Indeed, after a full season, the FFSA French Drift Championship settled in the Gard for its finale. And Torque Drift School was there, alongside two drivers we followed and supported: Salim Karrouache and Jason Banet. Here is how the decisive weekend unfolded.   <\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">Salim Karrouache, winner in the PRO category<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">What a weekend for Salim Karrouache. First, he won the final round at L\u00e9denon. As a result, he finished first on the weekend in the PRO category, the championship&#8217;s premier division. But the story does not end there.   <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In the 2026 PRO overall standings, Salim secured second place. Above all, he was crowned champion of the Rookie Challenge. In other words, he stood out as the best driver of his generation this season. A performance that rewards a solid, consistent year.   <\/p>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\">His run through the PRO bracket<\/h3>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">His victory owed nothing to chance. Indeed, Salim had to win four battles to reach the top step. Here is his run, round by round.  <\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Top 16: Salim Karrouache beat A. Cancian.<\/li>\n<li>Quarter-final: he eliminated L. Rigoni, the number 4 seed.<\/li>\n<li>Semi-final: he dominated K. Trosset, the number 2 seed, to reach the Big Final.<\/li>\n<li>Big Final: he beat C. Palma to claim the weekend win.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Beating two top seeds back to back says a lot about his level. From his first battle to the final, Salim never faltered. A perfect crescendo to close his season.  <\/p>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\">A true product of the Shiftech Drift Series<\/h3>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">This result did not come from nowhere. Indeed, Salim comes from the Shiftech Drift Series. He raced all season in the colours of the Shiftech &#038; Brothers Custom team. And what a season: race after race, he progressed all the way to that second place in the overall standings.   <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">His journey perfectly illustrates the spirit of the project. Because the Shiftech Drift Series is exactly that: spotting talent and supporting it to the highest level. A pathway built on three areas of expertise, Shiftech, Brothers Custom and Torque Drift School.  <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Dream of living the same adventure? Discover the calendar and details on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shiftech.eu\/fr\/shiftech-xperience-drift-series-saison-2\">Shiftech Drift Series<\/a> page, and take your shot.  <\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">Jason Banet, the battle for the title in the ELITE category<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The other driver we support had everything to play for at L\u00e9denon. Indeed, Jason Banet was fighting for the 2026 French Drift Championship title in the ELITE category. And it all came down to the finest of margins.  <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">After qualifying, two men stood clear at the top of the championship. On one side, Jason Banet, 634 points. On the other, Mathias Locatelli, 632 points. Just two points separated the two contenders before the battles.   <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The scenario was simple. To be crowned, Jason Banet had to match or beat Locatelli&#8217;s result. Conversely, Locatelli had to outscore Banet to steal the crown. In other words, every battle counted double.   <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">And fate set the stage well. The two rivals met head-to-head in the Top 4, right there on track. The 2026 title would therefore be decided in this duel, live, in front of the L\u00e9denon crowd.  <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">And the verdict came. Mathias Locatelli won that decisive battle. He was therefore crowned 2026 ELITE French Drift Champion. Two points apart after qualifying, a single duel to settle it: the title came down to nothing. Locatelli then advanced to the ELITE Big Final, where he faced Wilson Delagrainge.    <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">For Jason, the title slipped away by a whisker. But the disappointment does not erase a fine 2026 season. He lost to the future champion, then moved into the Small Final. His goal was clear: to go for third place and step onto the podium of this L\u00e9denon finale.   <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In the Small Final, the story took a twist. Jason faced Kevin Pesur, a Drift Masters driver entered here as a wildcard. The detail that changed everything: Pesur was driving Jason&#8217;s own Subaru BSR. So Jason closed his season against his own car, himself at the wheel of his BMW 1 Series. A wink of fate the way only drifting delivers.    <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">But mechanics decided otherwise. Indeed, a driveshaft broke on Jason&#8217;s car. That failure forced him to concede to Kevin Pesur. Jason therefore finished 4th of the event, with Pesur completing the podium in 3rd.   <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In the ELITE Big Final, Mathias Locatelli beat Wilson Delagrainge.
